On the 17th of October 2013, the last day of our journey to Great Britain, we visited Oxford.
In the morning
we got in our bus, which drove us to Oxford, between 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
From the parking area we went to one of the 38 colleges of the University of
Oxford, the Christ Church College. The University of Oxford is one of the
oldest and most famous universities in the world.
After we had
waited for a few minutes, we split up our group into two groups, because one
third of the pupils wanted to visit the Christ Church College, and the others wanted
to see the city. The city guide went with the pupils into the college which has
been part of the movie set of ‘Harry Potter’.
Mrs. Rother
and Mr. Kreuzer, along with two more city guides, led the other pupils through
the city.
In the college
we visited the dining-hall, which had been a part of the movie set, just like
the cathedral and the cloister. Then we looked at the library, the hostel of
the students, the first and oldest college, the University College, as well as
the St. Mary the Virgin, the Radcliffe Camera and the Bodleian Library.
Afterwards we
went to our meeting point, where we met the other group again. Then we had free
time for five hours. We could further explore the city and have a snack. Most
of us went shopping and just relaxed. There were three differentl places where
we could go shopping: the ‘Ship Street’, the ‘Cornmarket Street’ and the
‘Westgate Shopping Centre’.
At the end of
the day everybody was tired and we all were happy to drive home to Abingdon.
